Starring:
Paul Thomas is a charming New York congressman running for the Senate who has a few sexual secrets: He's a voracious womanizer. Reporter Annette Haven is out to expose him as a fraud.
Though his mobile home campaign vehicle (perfect for nailing prey) is too cheesy to be believable, the production is otherwise top notch, with solid performances all around, from his wimpy manager Joey Silvera, to his abused aide Annette Heinz.
While loaded with manipulative and emotionless sex (Thomas is a mean bastard), the reactions from those around him are real and often heart-breaking. Haven, Heinz, and Silvera are the soul of the movie.
The plot is neatly unveiled as Haven's investigation surges forward. That's when we meet some equally fascinating characters, like R. Bolla's as the money-man, and Kelly Nichols who has a past with the congressman.
The resolution is not nearly as convincing as the performances.
A well-written 9.
